Urbanna Picnic – Rappahannock River

On August 15, 2009 the MBCA Central Virginia Section invites our members and neighboring section members to join us for a wonderful day on the Rappahannock River. There will be boating, fishing (bring your rod), swimming, croquet, water skiing, tubing and of course fine dining and making new friends.

Provided: Fried chicken along with cole slaw, baked beans, ice tea, chips etc.. We are asking that everyone bring a desert or refreshments to share (soft drinks, wine or beer). Please contact event coordinators, Robyn or Gary at 804-358-8380 if you need more information.

Directions to the Picnic:

From Richmond

1. Take Rt. 360 E to Tappahannock. Turn right at Tappahannock onto Rt. 17 S.
2. At about 21 ½ miles, you will see the Virginia Raceway on your right.  Get in left lane and turn left across median strip onto Route 640.  (There will be a Big John’s gas station on the North bound lane of Rt. 17 at this turn off)
3. After the first 1.3 miles there will be a fork in the road…bear to the left
4. Follow Rt. 640 for about another 3.8 miles past fire house on left.
5. 2 blocks from the water the road turns sharply to left and then quick right.  Go to second dirt road, which is Oyster House Lane, and turn left.  Go to the 7^th house on right and turn at the white fence that says “Tyer #142” on it.

From DC:

1. Take I-95 S to US-1 / Rt 17 South, just past Fredericksburg
2. Continue to follow US 17 South – about 67 miles

From Va. Beach

1. Take I-64 W toward Richmond for about 25 miles
2. Merge onto US-17 via exit 258B toward Yorktown and go about 48 miles (do not follow signs into Urbana)
3. Turn right onto Water View Rd / US 640 (Big John’s gas station at the corner)
4. After about 1 mile the road will fork. Stay to your left, on Rt. 640
5. After about another 3 ½ miles you will pass the fire house on left
